The Safeguarding Health in Conflict Coalition condemns Russia’s attack on a children’s and maternity hospital in Mariupol, Ukraine. It is one of several Russian attacks on health care in Ukraine and the Ukraine Ministry of Health reports more than 60 incidents of attacks on health facilities, transports and personnel.
“In recent decades, Russia has acted with complete impunity in attacking health care facilities in wars in Chechnya and Syria,” said Leonard Rubenstein, chair of the Coalition. “There must be accountability for these barbaric acts.”
