05/18/2016

Date, Time, and Location: May 23, 2016, 5:00 Marmara (300 - Theater), LKCC, Istanbul

Join the Safeguarding Health in Conflict Coalition at the World Humanitarian Summit for a side event on May 23.

Humanitarian health providers are increasingly subjected to violent attack for engaging in critical work of providing health care to people at risk. How can these attacks be stopped? This side event will address a wide spectrum of strategies to prevent attacks from occurring and to end impunity for them through activities including monitoring and reporting, training, enhancements in security, and accountability. It will consider the role of governments, key UN agencies, humanitarian organizations, and human rights and civil society groups to achieve these objectives. The session will be moderated by Leonard Rubenstein of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and chair of the Safeguarding Health in Conflict Coalition.
